Medical School MD + DO Mastery

A 4-year, board-aligned study system for medical school and licensing exams.

Walk the full Year 1–4 curriculum — foundational sciences, organ-system blocks, clinical clerkships and advanced practice — each with mastery checklists and linked learning resources, plus a dedicated review system for school exams, Shelf/COMAT, USMLE Step 1–3 and COMLEX-USA Levels 1–3.

SCHOOL-EXAM + PROBLEM-SOLVING MASTERY

YEAR 1 | PAGE 15C - MORPHOLOGY, MECHANISMS, IMAGES + CAUSAL CHAINS

C. WHAT SCHOOL EXAMS COMMONLY REQUIRE

ResourceDescriptionLink
Cell injury / adaptationIdentify the adaptation or injury trigger, reversible/irreversible point and death mechanism from morphology, history or labs.
Inflammation / repairSequence vascular and cellular events; recognize acute vs chronic/granulomatous patterns; predict regeneration, fibrosis and healing.
HemodynamicsReason through edema/congestion, Virchow triad, thrombosis, embolism, infarction, DIC and shock as connected mechanisms.
NeoplasiaClassify benign vs malignant; use cell-cycle genes, differentiation/anaplasia, invasion/metastasis and grade vs stage correctly.
Environmental / depositsConnect tobacco, alcohol, radiation, toxins, malnutrition and abnormal protein deposition to the cellular injury they produce.
Gross / microscopic interpretationName the pathologic process, cite the visual feature that proves it, then connect morphology to mechanism and consequence.

C. WHAT SCHOOL EXAMS COMMONLY REQUIRE — D. 7-DAY SCHOOL-EXAM REVIEW CYCLE Days 1-2

Cell adaptation/injury/death + acute/chronic inflammation. Redraw causal maps and annotate morphology clues from memory.

Days 3-4Repair/wound healing + hemodynamics. Work Virchow/infarct/shock sequences and mixed gross/microscopic cases.
Day 5Neoplasia: cell cycle, cancer genes, invasion/metastasis, grade/stage and classic tumor-marker/paraneoplastic principles.
Day 6Timed mixed school-style block with images. Label each miss: mechanism, morphology, vocabulary, sequence or image interpretation.
Day 7Re-test every miss on NEW vignettes/images. Use one targeted video only when the causal mechanism remains unclear.

C. WHAT SCHOOL EXAMS COMMONLY REQUIRE — E. PATHOLOGY ERROR-LOG TAXONOMY

  • Mechanism-to-morphology gap - recognized the lesion name but could not explain why it looks that way.
  • Sequence/mediator gap - knew components but confused upstream/downstream events in injury, inflammation or repair.
  • Hemodynamic causal-chain gap - failed to connect Virchow factors, thrombus/embolus/infarct or shock compensation.
  • Neoplasia classification gap - confused oncogene vs tumor suppressor, benign vs malignant, invasion, grade or stage.
  • Image/context anchoring gap - memorized one picture and failed when the same process appeared from a new specimen/angle.

SCHOOL-EXAM GATE

Proceed when you can name and EXPLAIN an unfamiliar gross/microscopic change, build cause -> mechanism -> morphology -> consequence, distinguish major general-pathology processes on unseen vignettes/images, and state why plausible distractors are wrong. VIDEO-FIRST | SCHOOL-EXAM + BOARD-EXAM MASTERY
