FINAL 7-10 DAYS + SHELF / COMAT READINESS
YEAR 3 | PAGE 60D - ASSESS -> NARROW -> TIMED TRANSFER -> SLEEP / ENDURANCE + 10 DECISIONS
G. FINAL 7-10 DAY READINESS PLAN
| Lane | Final-phase action | Do not |
|---|---|---|
| Assessment Timed transfer | Use NBME CSMS or COMAT-SE when appropriate; interpret by content area and recurring error type. Use mixed, rotation-specific timed blocks; practice clinical sequencing and pacing. | Treat one form as a perfect prediction or ignore school-specific requirements. Spend the final days only on passive review. |
| Algorithms Clinical feedback | Rapidly retrieve common chief-complaint and management pathways from memory. Close any recurring presentation/note/workflow issue still appearing on service. | Memorize isolated disease facts without next-step logic. Sacrifice clinical reliability because the exam is approaching. |
| Recovery | Protect sleep, meals, logistics and realistic endurance. | Trade recovery for low-yield late-night breadth. |
G. FINAL 7-10 DAY READINESS PLAN — 10. Clerkship readiness is convergent evidence, not one percentage DEEP EXPLANATION A defensible end-of-rotation picture combines blueprint coverage, stable timed-question transfer, improvement in recurring errors, clinical feedback, ability to execute common diagnostic/management sequences, and
familiarity with the relevant assessment format. The exam score is important, but it is not the only clerkship competency.
H. 10 HIGH-DISCRIMINATION CLERKSHIP STUDY DECISIONS
| # | Scenario | Best response |
|---|---|---|
| 1 2 | You saw many CHF patients but almost no rheumatology. You identify the diagnosis but miss the next test. | Keep CHF maintenance small; use blueprint/Qbank to deliberately cover unseen rheumatology presentations. Repair the diagnostic sequence and test purpose, not the disease definition. |
| 3 4 | Supervisor says your presentations are too long. Qbank answer is correct but mostly guessed. | Compress to a discriminative one-liner, prioritized HPI/data, assessment and next plan; seek re-feedback. Log as fragile correct; review the reasoning and verify later with a new case. |
| 5 6 | Service rarely sees high-acuity disease tested on the shelf. COMAT rotation performance is good except recurring OPP/OMM items. | Use blueprint-aligned questions/algorithms to simulate missing exposure; do not wait for a patient. Add targeted OPP/OMM review because COMAT Clinical integrates osteopathic content within discipline blueprints. |
| 7 8 | Final week resource list keeps expanding. CSMS / COMAT-SE reveals one weak category. | Freeze broad sources; use the error log, timed mixed questions and recurring management algorithms. Triangulate with Qbank and prior errors; target the repeated pattern, then retest on new cases. |
| 9 | Bedside exam / procedural skill is weak despite strong questions. | Seek supervised practice and direct observation; knowledge resources cannot substitute for psychomotor feedback. |
H. 10 HIGH-DISCRIMINATION CLERKSHIP STUDY DECISIONS — I. CURRENT OFFICIAL ASSESSMENT ANCHORS
10 Clinical feedback strong but timed blocks remain poor. Preserve clinical behaviors; separately train exam representation, sequence retrieval, pacing and endurance. NBME Clinical Science Mastery Series currently offers 50-question forms across eight clinical areas; standard-paced forms allow 1 hour 15 minutes. COMAT Clinical Subject exams contain 120 items in 2.5 hours and integrate OPP/OMM within each discipline blueprint. COMAT-SE provides 60 blueprint-aligned learning-assessment questions per form with immediate explanations / progress feedback.
