Medical School MD + DO Mastery

A 4-year, board-aligned study system for medical school and licensing exams.

Walk the full Year 1–4 curriculum — foundational sciences, organ-system blocks, clinical clerkships and advanced practice — each with mastery checklists and linked learning resources, plus a dedicated review system for school exams, Shelf/COMAT, USMLE Step 1–3 and COMLEX-USA Levels 1–3.

YEAR 3 - STEP 2 CK / LEVEL 2-CE TRANSFER

YEAR 3 | PAGE 33D - MAKE EVERY CLERKSHIP A CUMULATIVE LICENSING-EXAM

BLOCK The shelf/COMAT system should make dedicated easier, not create a second curriculum. After every rotation, preserve the small set of rules, algorithms, medication-safety points and prevention/disposition decisions that you repeatedly missed. Then gradually move from specialty-silo questions to

mixed clinical reasoning as core clerkships accumulate.

M. END-OF-ROTATION TRANSFER SHEET

Carry forwardWhat belongs on the 1-page transfer sheet
Core algorithms5-10 “if this, then next” pathways: unstable-first rules, diagnostic sequence, initial vs definitive management, major disposition thresholds.
Medication / safetyHighest-yield contraindications, adverse effects, monitoring and pregnancy/renal/hepatic considerations that caused misses.
Prevention / follow-upScreening, vaccination, follow-up and health-maintenance decisions that disappear if you study only inpatient disease.
Images / proceduresECG, radiology, pathology, fetal tracing, dermatology, neuro localization or procedure-indication patterns that require visual recognition.
Personal trapsYour 5-10 recurring cognitive errors: premature closure, overtesting, skipping stabilization, choosing confirmatory before initial test, or overthinking common presentations.

N. CURRENT LICENSING-EXAM READINESS TOOLS

LaneCurrent format / official signalHow Year 3 should feed it
Step 2 CKexams on/after May 7, 2026: 16 x 30-minute blocks in one 9-hour session, up to items, no more than 20 items per block; minimum 55 minutes break + 5-minute 316 nal tutorial.Shelf questions are system blocks for Step 2. Preserve management, prevention, safety and cross-system integration rather than relearning each clerkship during dedicated.
NBME CCSSACurrent Comprehensive Clinical Science Self-Assessment has 200 items: four 50-question sections. Standard-paced mode allows 75 minutes per section. It is designed to track Step 2 CK readiness.Use after enough core clerkships are complete to make a cumulative assessment meaningful; use longitudinal domain trends and question-level feedback.
COMLEX Level 2-CECurrent 2026 format: 320 single-best-answer items, eight 40-question sections, two separately timed 4-hour sessions (8 hours total), with 60 minutes pooled break time. Competencies include OPP/OMM plus clinical care, communication, systems, professionalism and practice-based learning.Build the same shared clinical core as Step 2, then deliberately maintain OPP/OMM and osteopathic competency domains instead of creating a duplicate medical curriculum.
COMSAE Phase 2Current Phase 2 contains 160 items in four 40-question sections; timed version is 4 hours and aligns to the Level 2-CE blueprint. NBOME cautions against using one COMSAE score as a stand-alone predictor.Use as one readiness signal alongside COMAT results, Qbank trends, curricular performance and your school's required benchmarks.

O. LONGITUDINAL TRANSITION - FROM SHELF SILOS TO MIXED CLINICAL REASONING

StageExecution
Early core clerkshipsMost questions remain rotation-specific. Keep a very small cumulative retrieval lane so prior content does not disappear.
Several core clerkships completedAdd one mixed clinical block weekly or every 1-2 weeks, depending on workload. Review whether old-clerkship misses are knowledge decay or new integration errors.
End of core year / pre-dedicatedAudit unsampled systems, prevention, ethics/patient safety, biostatistics/EBM and cross-discipline management. Take an official cumulative readiness assessment early enough to remediate.
DedicatedShift from specialty silos to mixed timed blocks. Use CCSSA for Step 2 or COMSAE Phase 2 / school-required tools for Level 2 as formal checkpoints. Keep targeted specialty review only for data-proven gaps.
Final weekPractice current exam software, endurance, break strategy and short-block rhythm; retrieve high-yield algorithms and safety rules; protect sleep. Avoid large new resource additions.

O. LONGITUDINAL TRANSITION - FROM SHELF SILOS TO MIXED CLINICAL REASONING — P. ONE-SYSTEM RULE FOR DO STUDENTS TAKING BOTH EXAMS Shared clinical core: one primary Step 2/Level 2 question-learning system for diagnosis, testing, management, prevention and safety. COMLEX-specific lane: OPP/OMM, osteopathic competency framing, COMLEX-style item exposure and COMSAE/COMAT feedback. This prevents doing two full curricula

while still respecting the distinct COMLEX blueprint.

USMLE - Step 2 CK current format and content NBME - Comprehensive Clinical Science Self-Assessment (CCSSA) NBOME - COMLEX-USA Level 2-CE examination format NBOME - COMSAE Phase 2 PROFESSIONAL PERFORMANCE GATE: Year 3 mastery is not a shelf score alone. You should be able to create a concise problem representation, identify instability, choose the next diagnostic/management step, explain uncertainty, present a defensible plan, follow results, recognize deterioration, escalate appropriately and transfer those decisions to timed standardized vignettes. 2026/27 clerkship-expanded edition - verify school and official exam updates before testing
