Medical School MD + DO Mastery

A 4-year, board-aligned study system for medical school and licensing exams.

Walk the full Year 1–4 curriculum — foundational sciences, organ-system blocks, clinical clerkships and advanced practice — each with mastery checklists and linked learning resources, plus a dedicated review system for school exams, Shelf/COMAT, USMLE Step 1–3 and COMLEX-USA Levels 1–3.

SCHOOL-EXAM + PROBLEM-SOLVING MASTERY

YEAR 1 | PAGE 9C - MECHANISMS, PEDIGREES, MOLECULAR METHODS & CASES

C. WHAT SCHOOL EXAMS COMMONLY ASK YOU TO DO

ResourceDescriptionLink
Cell structure/functionIdentify the organelle/structure, state its role, and predict consequences of a specific defect.
Cell cycle/cancerMap checkpoint or DNA-repair failure to uncontrolled growth, apoptosis escape, chromosomal instability or therapy.
DNA/RNA/proteinSequence molecular steps, determine strand direction, identify enzyme defects and predict downstream protein effects.
Inheritance/pedigreesName the inheritance pattern, calculate recurrence risk and interpret penetrance/expressivity or anticipation.
Chromosomes/genomicsRecognize nondisjunction, translocation/deletion, imprinting/mosaicism and choose the appropriate test modality.
Molecular techniquesKnow what PCR, sequencing, karyotype, FISH, microarray and blot-based methods measure conceptually.

D. 7-DAY SCHOOL-EXAM REVIEW CYCLE

ResourceDescriptionLink
Days 1-2Cell structure/transport + cell cycle. Draw organelles, trafficking and checkpoint maps without notes.
Days 3-4Replication/transcription/translation + DNA repair. Work directionality/enzyme questions until automatic.
Day 5Pedigrees, recurrence risk, inheritance vocabulary, imprinting, anticipation and mitochondrial genetics.
Day 6Molecular diagnostics and chromosome abnormalities; complete a timed mixed school-style block.
Day 7Error-driven re-test with NEW problems. If a concept is still weak, watch one targeted video rather than restarting the course.

D. 7-DAY SCHOOL-EXAM REVIEW CYCLE — E. ERROR-LOG TAXONOMY

  • Mechanism gap - knew the disease name but could not explain the molecular/cellular step.
  • Directionality/process gap - confused template/coding strand, 5'/3' synthesis, splicing or translation order.
  • Inheritance gap - recognized a disease but misread the pedigree or recurrence probability.
  • Genetics-vocabulary gap - penetrance, expressivity, anticipation, imprinting, heterogeneity or mosaicism.
  • Test-selection gap - chose a technology that cannot detect the suspected mutation/chromosome abnormality.

D. 7-DAY SCHOOL-EXAM REVIEW CYCLE — SCHOOL-EXAM GATE

Proceed when you can explain the molecular mechanism aloud, solve unseen pedigree/probability problems, and choose an appropriate diagnostic method without relying on memorized disease labels. VIDEO-FIRST | SCHOOL-EXAM + BOARD-EXAM MASTERY
