Medical School MD + DO Mastery

A 4-year, board-aligned study system for medical school and licensing exams.

Walk the full Year 1–4 curriculum — foundational sciences, organ-system blocks, clinical clerkships and advanced practice — each with mastery checklists and linked learning resources, plus a dedicated review system for school exams, Shelf/COMAT, USMLE Step 1–3 and COMLEX-USA Levels 1–3.

STUDY OPERATING SYSTEM - SPACING + CUMULATIVE SPIRAL

ALL YEARS | PAGE 37B - RETENTION CONTROL + WEEKLY / MONTHLY CADENCE

The study system must deliberately revisit prior material. New blocks, rotations and cases naturally crowd out older content; without a cumulative spiral, performance can look strong locally while foundational retrieval quietly decays.

C. TOP 10 MOST-MISSED STUDY-SYSTEM CONCEPTS - 6 TO 10

ConceptWhat it really meansWhy students miss itEasiest clue
6. Tag WHY, not only WHATAn error log should identify the process failure - knowledge, reasoning, sequence, reading, image, timing - so the repair matches the cause.Logging only the topic ("renal", "appendicitis") leads to more content review even when the real problem was sequencing or discrimination. One miss = one mechanism tag.
7. Low-confidence corrects are hiddenA guessed or unstable correct answer may fail on the next variant. Review confidence, answerQbank dashboards reward correctness, so uncertainty is invisible unless the learner records it.Review wrong + guessed + changed.
misseschanges and lucky eliminations, not just incorrect items.
8. Cumulative review is weighted, notOlder domains should be sampled according to decay, exam importance and repeat-error risk - notStudents preferentially review favorite or recent topics because they are easier to access.More repetitions where decay/error is highest.
equalreviewed with identical frequency.
9. Endurance is a separate skillTimed accuracy, decision speed and late-block stability require practice under realistic duration and breaks; untimed knowledge is necessary but not sufficient.Learners interpret good untimed performance as proof they can sustain the same reasoning after hours of testing.Track accuracy by block quartile.
10. Recovery is part of the learningSleep, breaks and workload control protect encoding, consolidation, attention and next-dayStudy culture often equates more seat time with more learning, so fatigue is treated as a character testProtect tomorrow's retrieval.

D. CADENCE BY PHASE

CadencePreclinicalClinical clerkshipsDedicated / major exam
DailyObjectives -> concept build -> closed-book recall -> targeted questions -> error repair.Patients -> read around 1-3 cases -> small Qbank block -> error/management rule -> spaced facts.Timed questions drive the day -> targeted repair -> short retrieval of prior errors -> protect sleep.
2-3x/weekSpaced cards / blank-page redraws from current + prior blocks.Rotation-specific spaced review + one prior-clerkship mini-set.Mixed weak-domain sets + formulas/images/ethics/OMM as appropriate.
WeeklyOne cumulative timed block; one old-system retrieval session. One larger shelf/Step 2/Level 2 block + clinical skill / presentation goal.Longer timed simulation; compare early vs late-block accuracy and pacing.
End block / rotationSchool exam/practical -> classify misses -> re-test representative weak areas.NBME/COMAT-style readiness + clinical feedback -> targeted finish.Official/self-assessment -> domain + error-type repair, not score chasing.
MonthlyReview trend by system, error type and retention; prune low-value resource accumulation.Review cumulative Step 2/Level 2 transfer and prior-clerkship decay.Recalibrate schedule, weak-domain weighting and stamina plan from objective data.

E. WHEN TO INTERLEAVE VS BLOCK

  • Block first when the schema is genuinely new: learn the anatomy map, acid-base framework or labor stages before mixing them.
  • Interleave next when the exam asks you to choose among similar alternatives: obstructive vs restrictive PFTs, nephritic vs nephrotic, shock types, anemia patterns or causes of acute abdomen.
  • Do not interleave unrelated chaos. Mix concepts that compete for the same decision, not random subjects merely to make studying feel difficult. 2026/27 study-system expanded edition - verify school and official exam updates before testing
